Freeze! Advent Family Devo for Dec. 11

Gather: around the Advent wreath and light two purple candles. Remind each other that one is the Hope candle and one is the Peace candle.

Read Together: John 14:27  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Think About: Have you ever walked into a room or into a place and there were many, many things going on? Sometimes we walk into the house and the TV is on, the music is playing and someone is talking in the kitchen and someone else is on the phone in the living room and someone else is trying to do homework in the dining room.

The world can be really noisy and not very peaceful. Oftentimes people don’t treat each other well. Jesus tells us the world is sometimes not peaceful and that can be scary.

Do Together: Share your ideas of what peaceful looks like. What do you do to make things peaceful in your home? When have things felt scary because they weren’t peaceful? What can you do to bring about peace?

Pray Together: over your candle: Bless this light that it shine brightly for all to see and know God’s peace.
